ONE DAY RECOLLECTION FOR OUR JUNIORS AT GALLIERA VENETA, ITALY

We had a wonderful one day Recollection for our Juniors. I was glad to see them all together after meeting them in XISS Ranchi in August 2013. I am happy and satisfied with their openness, readiness to share their good/not-so-good experiences, and above all, their quest for integral growth. You will definitely hear from them. Personally, I feel that this was an excellent initiative taken by Sr. Catherine Kujur, Delegate Superio, Abroad Mission and her team to organize such Day of Formation for the Juniors. They did everything possible to welcome the Jurniors, to make them feel at home and to help them make maximum profit from the day. Sr. Catherine is worthy to be praised for her creative ideas. Alphonsa, Marsha and Cordula offered an unforgettable and extraordinary hospitality to all of us. After the Recollection, we had a wonderful family gathering. Whatever you had sent from the Generalate - Nappi, Sarla Sukti, Deppa Sukti, Chench Sukti, etc. - were distributed by Alphonsa and Marsha to each community in small packets. I am sending some of the photos of the day.

Sr. Lily Grace Topno, the First General Councilor’s Visit to Europe Mission

Rome, 11th March, (Vatican Radio): We have just begun the Lenten season with the blessing of Pope Francis. In this year of Lenten season, we Sr. Usha, Sr. Anupa and Sr. Ranjita three of us feel most fortunate because the second day of this season brought a great joy for us, when on Thursday 6th March, we receive Sr. Lily Grace Topno DSA, The General Councilor in Rome at Fiumicino Airport. We warmly welcomed her with flowers. In this occasion Fr. Prem was also with us to welcome and help us to bring Sr. Lily to our place.

On 7th March after taking necessary rest Sr. Lily met with three of us. She provided us Lots of love, warm greetings and gifts from Mother General Sr. Linda M. Vaughan and our sisters in India. We Sr. Usha, Sr. Anupa and Sr. Ranjita three of us extent our whole hearted Thanks to Mother General and all our dear sisters.

On the trip to Italy and Germany, Sr. Lily’s main purpose of Journey was to participate in the Vatican-organized Symposium on "The management of the ecclesiastical goods of Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life, for the service of humanity and for the mission of the Church."

The Two days Meeting was held on University St. Antonionum From 8th to 9th March. This Meeting is extra-ordinary because it is organized for first time by Pope Francis himself. Pope’s message was delivered by Cardinal João Braz de Aviz, Prefect of the Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life.

Pope Francis exhorted all the participants ‘to ensure that the goods of the Institutes are administered with caution and transparency’, not to waste and is attentive to the proper use of resources.

In his message Pope recalled the words of Servant of God Paul VI who called for "a new and authentic Christian mentality" and a "new style of life of the Church".

He also said that Today, everything comes into play in competitiveness and survival of the fittest, where the strong eat the weak. As a Christian community we feel challenged in the face of uncertainty in which most of the men and women of our time live.

After attending very packed meeting of General Treasures Sr. Lily on 10th March, proceeded towards her destiny to Germany, our new Community. We pray for the successful operation of Sr. Anji Rose Tigga. While returning to Rome Sister will be visiting other communities of Italy. We wish Sr. Lily a sound journey and ask God’s blessing and support in her mission.

PILGRIMAGE TO SHRINE OF DIVINO AMORE, ROME

Rome, 16th March 2014: On the 2nd Sunday of the lent 16th March, We Sr. Anupa Kujur,DSA, Sr. Ranjita Minj, DSA and Sr. Usha Manorama Tirkey, DSA along with Fr. Linus Kujur, SJ(Ran) and Sch. Sylverius Chirmako, SJ(Ran) went for pilgrimage to Divino Amore. A popular shrine of Mother Mary, known as one of the seven pilgrim Churches of Rome.

Divino Amore- Divine love or the love of God. Yes, Mother Mary, in whom we experience the love of God very closely. Who is the Mother of God and also the Mother of us all. She brought the love of God on the earth.

Far from the traffic of Rome, crossing artistic buildings, running over the very beautiful green landscape, Bus No. 702 arrived to a place called Santuario di Divino Amore. Calm and serenity of the place was remarkable. Hundreds of vehicles and thousands of people moving around but no one is disturbed by any unwanted sound. People and the nature all seemed to be meditating the Divine love of God.

Small staircase with colourful flowers, Shadowed by variety of tries, on top of the staircase, there was a very old but beautiful building, known as the Old chapel, was full of pilgrims. There was an unending cui to receive the blessing of Miraculous Mother Mary. After spending some times in payer and receiving the blessing of Mother Mary we proceeded ahead to another place of the same compound.

There were some stones depicted with pictures which reminds a miraculous event. It is said that in the spring of 1740 a wayfarer on his way to Rome, while approaching the tower, was attacked by a pack of dogs and was on the point of being slaughtered. The wretched man saw the holy image and cried out for help to the Mother of God. Immediately the dogs calmed down and fled into the countryside.

On account of this prodigy, on 5 September of the same year the image of Mary was removed from the tower and transferred to a nearby estate called "La Falconiana", where a small church dedicated to St Mary ad Magos stood.

After listening the miracle story narrated by Fr. Linus, we turned towards a huge building. It was the new Church. The Holy Mass was going on. Soon the Holy mass got over and the new Holy Mass began. We all of us participated in it. The Priest in his homily said, “Abraham is known because God called him and he was able to listen to it. Jesus on the mount Tabor also listened the word of God and His Beauty appeared in front of the disciples. We each one of us has the beauty in ourselves which reveals when we listen to the word of God and try to act accordingly. God transforms us. Our effort of listening to the word of the God transforms our lives and leads us to the action of charity towards others. During this Lenten season God is calling us. He wants to transform us, let us listen His word and go ahead with prayer, fasting and charity.

The Holy Eucharist was over, after receiving the last blessing we all went into the small adoration Chapel. There was a very deep atmosphere of prayer. People with great devotion spending hours there. Having a short visit to the Blessed Sacrament we came out from the church and went around the compound. The Natural beauty of the place was wonderful. We took some beautiful shots, then we chose a most beautiful and calm place to sit together and nourish ourselves. Just like the early Christian community we took out and shared our edibles to one another. We had a good relaxation and so peaceful atmosphere that we felt like disciples who wanted to build three tents. After having the foretaste of Heavenly Bliss and the love of God through Mother May we left the place, with heart full of gratitude started the journey back to our destination.

Our journey of pilgrimage was over but the journey of spirituality is half the way. Making our journey with Mother Church we are now in second week. May God help us to complete our journey towards promised land.

When our hearts full of gratitude towards God, we can’t forget our brothers and sisters too who help us in different ways to get such beautiful and enriching experiences of exterior as well as interior. We thank Fr. Linus SJ whole heartedly for his quick and well arrangement, loving guidance and kind accompaniment. We also thank Fr. Sylverious SJ for his support and help. It was the initial thought of Sr. Anupa and supported by Sr. Ranjita but we all profited the abundance blessing of God.
